Sri Lanka 2015

In 2004 Sri Lanka were affected by the natural disaster of a  tsunami. The coast was left in pieces and everything was ruined, 10 years on you wouldn't be able to tell there was a tsunami!

Over a year ago I applied to go on one of my school trips to Sri Lanka, and I am so so happy that I decided to! About every two years my school go to Sri Lanka. We had to fundraise £1200, we would go out to Sri Lanka to go teach the students lessons in English, we re-did a whole library as it was in an awful condition, it wasn't planned but whilst we were at the primary school there school playground was very dangerous and it wasn't very practical to use so we fixed it and re painted it so it looked brand new!! We also went to an orphanage and it was really eye opening, the children would live in houses with a mum, all the children I met were so happy and playful it was so nice.

Everyone in Sri Lanka were so nice, everyone would always have a smile always stop for a talk, they welcomed us so much it was like a family, where we stayed we have a tour guide called Thilak and he became everyone's friend he always made us smile and made the trip more special.

As well as working, we did lots of fun activities including letting baby sea turtles into sea which so so  cute, we went on elephants which is something I will never forget. We went on tuk tuks which we did races on it was so fun! Went to a fish market where we met Michael the monkey who was adorable, I was also blessed my a Buddha for a 100 years which is pretty cool! We also visited a tea plantation where they showed us how they make tea and all the processes of it!

So overall I had a trip of a lifetime and made a lot of memories which i will always remember!

This photo was at sunrise at about 6 in the morning, this was when we first arrived.
They had lots of palm trees!
You can kind of see but this was when we were letting the baby sea turtles out to sea.
